Over 150 Runners at Task Force Meeting

Yesterday was the first time runners were heard by the Task Force, over 150 runners attended after the e-mail sent out by John Conley and 10 were given 3 minutes to share their thoughts. The task force is focusing on defining the ordinances that govern how events and road closures are handled in the CBD (central business district).

The next meeting should be held two weeks (Monday, August the 25th). The location hasn't been set yet.

I just recently received an email about House Congressional Resolution 305 (H.CON.RES.305). It asked that we contact your Senator on the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) , and ask her to support Congressman Blumenauer's National Bike Bill (HR305).

House Congressional Resolution 305 (H.CON.RES. 305), dubbed the National Bike Bill sponsored by Representative Earl Blumenauer (D-OR), which passed the House of Representatives on May 21, 2008, is scheduled to be considered by the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, this Thursday, July 31, 2008, at 10am. Please take a moment to contact your Senator on the Committee to thank them in advance for their support of this resolution which recognizes the importance of bicycling in transportation and recreation. Calls are more effective than email. Call 202-224-5922 and say "Please ask Senator Hutchison to support Congressman Blumenauer's National Bike Bill (HR305) when it goes before the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation.)

Holding Michael Argall in Our Thoughts

It is with profound shock and sadness we share with you the news of the loss of a member of the Rogue family. On Saturday afternoon June 28^th, Rogue Coach, Michael Argall was struck by a car and killed while cycling. As we all grieve this terrible loss, we ask you to keep Cecilia Turrin, and Michaels family in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. Go to the "Ride in Honor and Celebration of Michael Argall" hosted by Rogue. We'll take a collection and do a safe bike ride in honor of Michael. Anyone can show up, and we'll take donations at the beginning. If you would like to send a donation ahead of time, or cannot make it to the ride, the Rogue office will take them and put them in the fund. There will be an online donation option soon.

Requirements to receive the scholarship include having a 3.5 GPA, running track or cross country in at least their senior year of high school, and demonstrating financial need. The Loop 30k Trail Race Results

The weather started off relatively cool, ok it was warm, and the 30k race started on time. The overall winner was Paul Terranova. Paul was in 5th after two of the 10k loops but his consistency paid off as he started picking people off in the last loop to finish strong and in 1st place. This was the second of three races in the Rogue Trail Series.
