COACH BIOS

Em started running in 2011 with Rogue.  She decided that after a year of an office job she needed to do something, so she joined Intro to Rogue and was instantly taken with the entire community.  Em ran her first half in 2012, under the great training of Coach Stacey (who awesomely takes over for some speed cycle training in the spring, and also fills in when Em is out of town), and was instantly hooked!  Since then it’s been many more full marathons, and about 75 lbs less for her.  Rogue has not only given her a way to get healthy, but a wealth of friends who are now family to her!

Stacey started running with Rogue in 2007 as a triathlete with Rogue’s Iron Chicks.  She was a swimmer but didn’t consider herself a  runner, yet!  She hadn’t been on a bike for over 20 years but after a season with Rogue, she was hooked! She started as a walk/runner, and over the years increased her pace and distance. She loves setting goals and putting in the work to achieve her goals. Since 2007 she has now run over 40 half marathons and 20 marathons. She paced for the Austin Marathon three times, too. She loved having the opportunity to give back to runners and help them achieve their goals. She began coaching in 2010 and has coached Couch/Intro to Running groups, 10K’s, 10 Milers, and Half Marathoners. She even coached Coach Emily in her early running years!

GROUP DYNAMIC

Our group is always looking out for each other, no matter if it’s a Wednesday night workout when someone has more to do, or a saturday morning, we’re always checking in to make sure everyone has someone to run with.

ORIGIN STORY

A group of folks started running with Em in the spring of 2018, they were all either starting from scratch or coming off a long break. We built a group that was welcoming no matter your abilities.  The only requirement to be in the group was that you had to want to make yourself better.  We’ve transitioned from Couch to 5K to the group we are now.  We’re still willing to take anyone in, just as long as they want a little more.  We have everyone from first time half marathoners, all the way up to folks who’ve run more marathons than they can count when they were much younger. 

 One of the group has suggested our name because at the time it was the summer and it was super hot out, and when we run we feel like we’re flying.
