I coach at: 5k Run On! Coppell
Coaching experience and philosophy: I have been coaching since 2012. I have coached everything from the 5k to the half marathon class. My passion has always been the 5k class. I have come to learn that running is a sport anyone can enjoy if you receive the correct coaching and training. Coaching is not a job for me, it is my hobby. I do not run for myself or to achieve personal goals, I do it to help others achieve their goals by passing on the knowledge that I have gained over the years. It’s the look in their eyes and the smile on their faces when they have put in the work and are able to achieve their goals, no matter how small or big those goals are, that is the ultimate reward as a coach. That’s what send chills down my spine and brings tears to my eyes.
Advice for our new Rogues: Patience and consistency is the key to achieving your goals.
My most memorable race: I ran a race with one of my runners who had never run a half marathon before. She and I started off slow and increased our speed as we went along. Her husband happened to be running in the same race. He was training at a faster pace than she was but because we ran a smart race, we ended up running the last half of the race faster than he did. The look on her face when she crossed the finish line was priceless. She was so excited to tell him she was faster than he was.
An interesting fact about me: I was a competitive dancer until my junior year in college.
